All pilots flying internationally and all controllers dealing with international traffic must have a
minimum level of Aviation English. This is called ‘ ICAO Operational Level 4’.
According to our research (we have tested over 60,000 aviators from 150+ countries using Test of
English for Aviation – TEA), 60% of non-native English speaking aviators have ICAO Level 4 English
(34% have Level 5 and 6% have Level 6)
