NATIVE OR

NON-NATIVE?

I’ve noticed that non native English speakers understand each others quite easily. Things get more complicated when communicating with native speakers. As a matter of facts I am aware of at least 2 aviation companies that wont hire English native speakers because of this issue. ITALIAN PILOT
It's interesting that communication with non-native English speakers is more accessible. I feel confident when I give instructions to non-native speakers. When I speak with native speakers (especially American guys) I really need to choose my words to avoid misunderstanding. TURKISH ATCO
Most native speakers are unable to adapt their level of English to the level of non-native speakers. GERMAN PILOT
When flying within USA’s FIR sometimes I have to process instructions given to me more than once in order to understand what ATC expect from us. On the other hand, when communicating with non native English ATC’s, they really make an effort to be as standardized as possible.COLOMBIAN PILOT
Over RTF, usually I have more problem with native speakers then foreign speakers. ITALIAN PILOT
