receive the information he requires. The controller also seems to want to engage
in ‘chatting’ about the conditions the pilot had previously encountered. The pilot
politely tells him, “We can talk about that on the ground”.
At around 3m 50s into the video, two things happen: (1) the ATCO’s rate of speech
increases significantly, perhaps due to frustration (2) the pilot has to resort to
informal language in order to manage the dialogue: “take a deep breath and get
me out of this”. This seems to resolve the tension.
